I'm Cash, and I'm a sweet, energetic boy, who loves to have my belly rubbed, run with other dogs, and above all else go hiking and swimming (if you didn't know better and you saw me in the water, you might swear I was a fish). I know a lot of commands and I try really hard to pay attention when my foster mom is talking to me but sometimes life is just a little too crazy for me to be able to listen, especially when I am in the city. The city makes me a little crazy because I am a bit obsessed with wheels (bicycles, motorcycles, skateboards) and a little overwhelmed by crowded situations, so I'd love a home outside of the city without all the distractions and with places where I can run. I was kept in the mud room for the first year of my life because the family that bought me from a pet store decided I had too much energy to live in the house and didn't want to clean up after me when they left me in the crate. Because of this I am a little bit of an anxious boy. My foster mom tells me I need an experienced owner to help me with my anxiety and to teach me the world is really a safe place. That's a real surprise considering that, when I was rescued, I was being dragged around with a chain and beaten with a baseball bat. I don't know why the kids who were doing that to me thought it was a good idea, I was just a 6 month old puppy and I had never done anything to them. Even so, I LOVE LOVE LOVE people and my foster mom says I am her favorite foster dog EVER! I love to give kisses and will sit for hours if you're petting me and giving me love. I have been in foster care a LONG LONG time and no one can figure out why since I am one of the sweetest, most comical dogs. I am very friendly and love people but sometimes I need some time to just be by myself and not have everyone trying to touch me. That is very hard for the kids in my family to understand so my family has decided they should help me find a new home where kids are not always trying to pet me and touch me. I like to go for walks and to run in the park. I walk very well on a gentle leader and know how to sit at the corner. I enjoy playing fetch with my rope toy or a tennis ball. I love to be close to my mom and follow her to the basement to do laundry or lie down near her in the kitchen when she’s making dinner. I know how to sit, stay and shake and will do most anything asked of me if a treat is given in return. I get very excited when people come into the house but have learned a greeting and can usually settle down after a few minutes when someone new arrives. I really take comfort in my daily routine and this helps me to feel less anxious.My 9 year old sister has trouble remembering not to approach me when I’m lying down. She doesn’t realize that sometimes I want to be near my family but not petted. I hope my new family will be able to let me initiate petting time when I come up to them.I am pretty scared of other dogs so I’ve had trouble making dog friends. I bark and pull on my lead when I pass others dogs on a walk. When I actually get to interact with other dogs, sometimes I just want to run away and hide and sometimes I will try to play, it depends on how scary I think the other dog is.My family loves me very much and hopes that my new family will provide me with a safe and loving home. I was at that vet' office for a while, my people brought me there one day and then just never came to pick me back up. As a result, I am a little worried about being in a cage so crate training has been hard for me. I would really love a house where I can have a room to live in instead of a crate because then I will be more comfortable. Sometimes being picked up makes me nervous too, but I know lots of commands so you can move me around with your voice if i'm being scared! I just got started on some anti-anxiety medication to see if it will help me think the world is safer, and I feel better already. Now Buddha Bear, my baby, has found a home but I'm still looking. They tell me I'm about 5 years old and I'm healthy. I got spayed and I gained some weight so now I'm feeling so much better. My favorite activities include chewing a rawhide while I relax, playing with the hose outside in the summer and wiggling my nubbin when I meet new people. I'm pretty easy-going most of the day as an inside puppy...but if you're ready to get out and walk or play, I'll be ready before you can tie your shoes! I love the water (even if it is just splashing in the puddles of the shower after you're done) and enjoy walking and jogging (I'm most comfortable on leash) and being outside. I've graduated from three obedience classes and love working for treats by 'talking' or 'being a bear.' I'm very respectful of things that are not mine and sit quietly for treats and love. I even know some sign language (sit, stay, up, down, speak). Whether we do those things or not, I love being at home next to you on the couch (only if you say it's okay) to cuddle. I was rescued from the local pound and I was basically a head on a skeleton. I had really bad pneumonia and was almost dead when my foster mom took my home and for the first couple of weeks I was at her house, I lived in the bathtub (I guess I felt safest there). Luckily, my foster mom nursed me back to health, helped me get over my pneumonia and started to feed me so that I could put some weight on. Then I went to a wonderful home and got to be the center of someone's universe. Unfortunately, it turned out that as I got healthier, I got more and more fearful of men and then my new mom got sick and just couldn't take care of me anymore so I came back to Cares4Pets and now I am looking for a foster home that can help me overcome my fear. I was brought into a vet's office last night by a really nice person who picked me up off the street. I am super skinny but beyond that, I have this horrible wound that encircles my entire body. They tell me I am going to have to have surgery. Last night, when they had to clean me up, I just lay there and kissed their faces while they worked on me. I am a super sweet boy who just wants someone to love me. I am also told that I am super pretty. I don't know what Blue Brindle means but they keep saying that I am a gorgeous Blue Brindle. I am going to need a place to go to get better from my surgery and then I will be ready to go to a new home, and Cares4Pets assures me that my new home will love me and take care of me forever, as opposed to my last home. Because I am being kept at the vet's office so I can have surgery, Cares4Pets has not been able to introduce me to other animals yet. I ignore the other dogs at the vet's office and I have not yet seen a cat. I think once I have had my surgery I am supposed to meet some new dog friends to see how I do, however, for now if foster homes could have me as their only pet, it would probably be better for my recovery anyhow. I originally came into rescue with another rescue group because my owner went to jail and I was left behind and had no where to live. I was a young puppy and I didn't understand what had happened to me. The woman who saved me had a bunch of other dogs and she couldn't care for me so she found a rescue group to take me and they put me in a great foster home that loved me very much. Unfortunately, they placed me in a home in the city and it was way too scary and overwhelming for me and I just couldn't do it. I really am a country boy at heart, I love to go out and run around and play and bask in the sun (don't worry, I know to be carerful and put sun screen on my nose). I am a super sweet, super smart dog and I would really love to go to a home that wanted to take me out running or play ball with me or wrestle with me and chase me around the yard.
