I was brought into a vet's office by a really nice person who picked me up off the street. I was super skinny but beyond that, I had this horrible wound that encircles my entire body. They told me I was going to have to have surgery. When they had to clean me up, I just lay there and kissed their faces while they worked on me. I am a super sweet boy who just wants someone to love me. I am also told that I am super pretty. I don't know what Blue Brindle means but they keep saying that I am a gorgeous Blue Brindle. I am in a temporary place to get better from my surgery, which went very well, and put on some weight (and I LOVE food so I am sure that will not take too much time) and I am ready to go to a new home really soon, and Cares4Pets assures me that my new home will love me and take care of me forever, as opposed to my last home. I'm pretty easy-going most of the day as an inside puppy...but if you're ready to get out and walk or play, I'll be ready before you can tie your shoes! I love the water (even if it is just splashing in the puddles of the shower after you're done) and enjoy walking and jogging (I'm most comfortable on leash) and being outside. I've graduated from three obedience classes and love working for treats by 'talking' or 'being a bear.' I'm very respectful of things that are not mine and sit quietly for treats and love. I even know some sign language (sit, stay, up, down, speak). Whether we do those things or not, I love being at home next to you on the couch (only if you say it's okay) to cuddle. On days when you're busy, I love spending time snoozing and enjoying my dinosaur bone or snuggling my 'baby'. Unfortunately, I am really afraid of babies and now there is a new baby in my home and I just don't feel safe any more. I really need a new home without kids to remind me how wonderful life can be. I know a lot of commands and I try really hard to pay attention when my foster mom is talking to me but sometimes life is just a little too crazy for me to be able to listen, especially when I am in the city. The city makes me a little crazy because I am a bit obsessed with wheels (bicycles, motorcycles, skateboards) and a little overwhelmed by crowded situations, so I'd love a home outside of the city without all the distractions and with places where I can run. I was kept in the mud room for the first year of my life because the family that bought me from a pet store decided I had too much energy to live in the house and didn't want to clean up after me when they left me in the crate. Because of this I am a little bit of an anxious boy. My foster mom tells me I need an experienced owner to help me with my anxiety and to teach me the world is really a safe place. I don't know why the kids who were doing that to me thought it was a good idea, I was just a 6 month old puppy and I had never done anything to them. Even so, I LOVE LOVE LOVE people and my foster mom says I am her favorite foster dog EVER! I love to give kisses and will sit for hours if you're petting me and giving me love. I originally came into rescue with another rescue group because my owner went to jail and I was left behind and had no where to live. I was a young puppy and I didn't understand what had happened to me. The woman who saved me had a bunch of other dogs and she couldn't care for me so she found a rescue group to take me and they put me in a great foster home that loved me very much. Unfortunately, they placed me in a home in the city and it was way too scary and overwhelming for me and I just couldn't do it. I really am a country boy at heart, I love to go out and run around and play and bask in the sun (don't worry, I know to be carerful and put sun screen on my nose). I am a super sweet, super smart dog and I would really love to go to a home that wanted to take me out running or play ball with me or wrestle with me and chase me around the yard. I was found running around on the street, and it seems like I must have been a breeding dog, and I had just weaned a litter before I got tossed out. I'm doing better now, they fixed me and gave me my shots, I also had a little lump on my shoulder that they took off. The biopsy came back kind of bad, a tumor called adenocarcinoma. The good news is they were able to completely remove the tumor and I don't have any evidence of spread, I'm doing great in my foster home. Sawyer went into foster care after about 10 days in the shelter because he was completely shut-down there and getting sick. He was originally found loose on the street in Northeast Philadelphia, and was picked up by and Animal Control Officer. As soon as he set foot in a proper home, however, Sawyer proved to be full of personality and energy, and has been improving with leaps and bounds. It turns out he is still shy and scared with new people (especially men), but can learn to conquer his fears with regular socialization. PLUTO BEAGLE ADULT- Born around 2006 Hi, I’m Pluto- I’ve been told I’m as round as a little planet, but my foster parents are working on that with some diet and exercise! I’m a five year old beagle and mostly, I just like to hang around inside. I’m more of a lounger than a super active dog, but I’m learning how to walk around on a leash and my foster dad is even teaching me to jog with him! I am house and crate trained and don’t mind hanging out in my crate during the day while you're away or at night to sleep. When you get home, though I’ll be your shadow and follow you around the house. I can sometimes be a little bit timid or skittish- loud noises or fast movements startle me a bit, but I’m good at ignoring other dogs and people that we see when we’re out walking. I don’t have a huge interest in toys, but when I want something to chew on I know what is appropriate. I am very food motivated (can’t you tell?) but even without treats I am pretty good at “sit”, “stay/wait”, and “kennel up”- we’re still working on “down” and “leave it” (that’s particularly hard if it involves food).
